Airlines

Airline travel is not as fun as it used to be. Security regulations and cramped seating has made it to be more of a chore to travel than a pleasure. While, depending on your destination, it is still very affordable to travel by air, it is one of those situations where you just need to grit your teeth and 'git 'er done'.

That is, unless you can afford to fly first class. Oh, to be able to fly first class. Woo-hoo! Sittin' with the big boys :)

The advantage of first class is the many perks it offers. First of, you have more comfortable seating and more leg room.

Secondly, the drinks are usually on the house (or on the plane, as it were) and often times there are meals and/or the snacks are better.

Also, if you like a blanky and a pillow to help you cozy up to a book or a nap, you're in business with first class.

Coach is a whole other ballgame. It's generally cramped and uncomfortable (though casual). Coach usually runs about a third or a fourth of the cost of first class, so it's easy to see why most travelers never really get that luxury. Just like most other things in life, it comes down to the money.

The good thing about flying today is availability of departure times and the vast amount of destinations available. In a moments notice you can be getting a good fare to one of your favorite destinations. Competition is mostly fierce so you are bound to find a fare that fits your wallet.

Also, contrary to poplular belief, air travel is still probably the safest way to go. More people are injured on the way to the airport than are ever injured in the actual flight. So fly little traveler ... fly, fly, fly :)
